I went to see Borat tonight. It's only showing at two theaters in my city right now and the 7:30 showing was sold out at at one of them at least an hour and a half in advance. We got into a 7:40 showing at the second theater and it was packed -- probably a sellout as well. I suspect the per screen figures are going to be mighty impressive. Luckily, this is just the sort of movie that is great to see with a large audience because the laughs are contagious.
Anyway, I found myself thinking about Borat's similarities to the Jackass frachise. Obviously they are both crude, but beyond that, I found mysef thinking that these are people who would do anything -- anything -- for a laugh. Not that that's a bad thing: I thought the film was freakin' hilarious.
