Screenwriter William Monahan in the article you linked to: "I tell ya, people would leave the theater feeling a lot different if it wasn't for that rat."
My reponse: Yep, that's true: I'd have left the theater feeling like the film hadn't just been cheapened. And I'd be liking it a whole lot more.
