Texas Gov. Rick Perry has signed into law
a $22-million bill that would provide major financial incentives to producers who shoot film projects in the Lone Star state. But there's a catch: The bill includes a provision that allows film grants to be denied "because of inappropriate content or content that portrays Texas or Texans in a negative fashion." Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't help suspecting that, by the standards set by the lawmakers,
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,
Lone Star and
The Last Picture Show would be considered
highly "inappropriate."
